MIDI to audio with a real piano
Drop a MIDI file and get it played on a sampled concert grand, as an M4A or WAV file. It is made right here in your browser.
How it works
- Choose a MIDI file. From MuseScore, a piano app, a DAW or a MIDI site. It stays on your device.
- Pick M4A or WAV. M4A is small and plays like an MP3. WAV is the full quality file.
- Download it. Your computer or phone plays every note on the piano, then the file is yours.
What you get
- A real piano sound: The Salamander Grand, a sampled concert grand with three velocity layers.
- The pedal as written: The sustain pedal in the file holds the notes, as on a real piano.
- An even level: The file is brought to a steady, full level without clipping.
- Then falling notes: Make a falling-notes video of the same file in one click.

Questions
Why M4A and not MP3?
The good MP3 encoders for the browser carry a license we keep out of the site. M4A (AAC) sounds as good or better at the same size, and plays on phones, computers and in most apps that play MP3.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The MIDI file and the audio file never leave your device.
Which instruments play?
Every part is played on the piano. Drums are left out.
Which browsers work?
WAV works in every modern browser. M4A needs a browser that can write AAC, such as Chrome or Edge on a computer. Keep the tab open while it runs.
Can I use the file?
The music is whatever your MIDI file holds, so its rights are yours to check. The piano sound is the Salamander Grand by Alexander Holm (CC BY 3.0), and the file carries that credit.
