Pianolune is run by Measify Kft., 1068 Budapest, Király Street 80, Floor 11, Hungary, who decides what happens with your data (see the Imprint). This page says what we keep, why, for how long, and who helps us run it. Questions or requests: team@measify.com.
What stays in your browser
Your progress, stars and settings live in your browser's own storage (IndexedDB and local storage). We never receive them. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
The game also keeps a random player id there. It is not tied to your name or email. It only lets our service show you the songs you brought, and nobody else's.
When you bring your own song
- The file you upload (audio, video, MIDI or sheet music) is stored only so we can make the lessons. We delete it once the lessons are made, and in any case within one day.
- The lessons made from it (the notes and lesson files), the title and artist you typed and the file's name are kept until you delete the song on its page, or ask us to.
- Your IP address is used to keep the daily limits fair and to stop abuse. We keep it with that day's imports only and clear it after the day.
- A bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile) runs when you upload, to tell people from scripts.
We use the upload only to make your lessons. Your songs are private to your browser's player id; we don't share them or show them to other players.
Error reports
When something breaks, the game sends a short technical report: what failed, the error message, the build and the browser name. It carries no player id and no cookie. We use it to fix bugs.
Usage statistics, only if you say yes
If you agree, the game sends how you use it (for example which lessons you played, your scores and imports) with a random id, so we can see what helps people learn. You can say no, and change your mind any time in Settings. Saying no changes nothing in the game.
Visit counts
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics: which pages are opened, where visitors come from (for example a link on another site), and the browser and country. It uses no cookies and no ids, so it cannot follow you from visit to visit, and we cannot see who you are.
Supporting Pianolune
The "Support Pianolune" and "Buy us a coffee" links open our page on Ko-fi in a new tab. Pianolune loads nothing from Ko-fi. If you choose to support us, Ko-fi and its payment providers (Stripe or PayPal) handle the payment under their own privacy policies; we never see your card details.
Who helps us run Pianolune
- Cloudflare hosts the site and the service, stores uploads and lesson files, and runs the bot check.
- Modal runs the computers that turn your upload into lessons. These are in the United States, so your upload is processed there under the provider's data processing terms.
- PostHog (EU hosting) receives error reports, and usage statistics if you agreed.
Why we may use this data
To give you the lessons you asked for (our service to you), to keep the service safe and working (our legitimate interest in limits, abuse prevention and error reports), and, for usage statistics, your consent.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to team@measify.com with the song's title so we can find it. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell data.
